On average, the time needed for a thorough pool fence inspection is around 30 minutes. Simple and clear barriers will be on the quicker end of this timeframe and more complex pool barriers with lots of different fence materials and gates may take a little longer.
Why? Our pool inspections are thorough and including taking measurements of various fence or barrier elements and photographs. We use an inhouse designed comprehensive checklist that corresponds to the relevant Australian Standard AS1926.1 applicable to your pool. The version of the standard is determined by Council when they register and access your pool installation date. The variation in between rules for older pools and those installed in the last 20 years do vary a bit. If your pool is assessed as an older standard but you would like it to be brought up the latest standard, this is possible. It would be best to book in for an advice meeting here: https://www.countryvicpoolinspections.com.au/ prior to discussing this change with council so you are fully aware of the work needed to update your pool fencing.
What is looked at during a pool fence inspection? All fences or barriers are assessed for compliance against a range of criteria from spacing of horizontal members to ensure the fence is not climbable by young children, to the spacing of horizontal elements so access cannot be gained though the fence material to the height of boundary fences to durability of the pool fence material to the closing and latching of the gate or access doors amongst others. The requirements of the pool fence inspection are stipulated in the Australian Standard AS1926.1 applicable to your pool fence.
How can I prepare before my pool fence inspection? The VBA website has a self-guide checklists you can print and follow to cover a lot of the basics.
